It was 31st July at Brights’s Zoo in Limestone Tennessee a rare spotless giraffe was born which was a surprise for everyone. As per the expert’s opinion, the zoo said that it is the only solid-coloured reticulated giraffe on the planet as of now.
As per the Giraffe’s Conservation Foundation, reticulated giraffes are the species of giraffe having brown and orange spots that are native to Africa and were listed as endangered in 2018.
David Bright the zoo’s director has already sent an email to CBS News about the last giraffe which was born spotless in 1972 in Tokyo at Ueno Zoo named Toshiko.
Well, the goal of the zoo in bringing the giraffe media attention is to bring awareness for giraffe conservation as they are on the verge of endangerment. Tony Bright the founder of Bright Zoo is quite happy about their international coverage of a patternless baby giraffe which has created a much-needed spotlight among the people.
Currently, the baby giraffe is six feet tall and is under the mother’s care. On 22nd August, the Zoo Authority announced a naming contest including the final 4 names Kipekee, Firyali, Shaikiri, and Jamella. The votes were collected till 4th September and the winning name was Kipekee.
Around 40,000 people have participated in the voting contest to name this 5-week-old unique animal.
